Our Legal Student Intern Patsy Martinez is Awarded a Mexican American Bar Foundation Scholarship

The Law Offices of Michael M. Felix would like to congratulate our legal student intern Patsy Martinez for receiving the Mary Agnes Camunez Memorial Scholar scholarship award in the amount of $10,000 from the Mexican American Bar Foundation. Every year, the Mexican American Bar Foundation awards scholarships to Latino law students who have demonstrated academic achievement, a commitment to community service, leadership experience and who have overcome hardships.

Our student intern Patsy Martinez was born in Jalisco, Mexico and migrated with her parent to California in pursuit of a brighter future. Patsy Martinez is the first in her family to graduate from high school and was immediately accepted to several University of California schools. However, because Patsy Martinez remained undocumented until 2007, she was unable to pay the tuition at the University of California schools and instead attended Cal Poly Pomona University.

While at Cal Poly Pomona, Patsy Martinez was the President of the Kellogg Honors College and she also served as the Treasurer of the Honors Ambassadors' Club. In addition, she graduated summa cum laude and was the Valedictorian of her major.

Upon graduating from Cal Poly Pomona, Patsy Martinez worked at the Neighborhood Legal Services during her summer and was selected to serve as a Graduate Fellow for the Justice Corps. At both places, she provided legal assistances to hundreds of self-represented litigants.

In 2013, Patsy Martinez was accepted into Loyola Law School. At Loyola, Patsy Martinez excelled during her first year, a very difficult thing to achieve. In addition, she is involved in extracurricular activities. She currently services as the Secretary for the La Raza de Loyola Society. Patsy Martinez has proven to be a brilliant young lady who is full of potential. We are very happy to have her working us this summer. While interning at our office, Patsy Martinez has demonstrated her legal potential through her excellent writing, attention to detail, and her quick learning and organization skills. We have no doubt that she will excel in all of her future endeavors and we look forward to witnessing her future accomplishments.
