Mixed Martial Arts Instructors Can Obtain O-1 Visas

|

If you are an international Mixed Martial Arts Instructor and will be traveling to the United States to train MMA fighters, you too can qualify for a work visa.

A Mixed Martial Arts Instructor can qualify for an O-1 Visa. This type of O-1 Visa may be granted for a period of up to three years. A Mixed Martial Arts Instructor can obtain an O-1 Visa when the instructor can show that he/she is an individual who possesses extraordinary ability in athletics. The athletics, in this case, would be in any of the sub-genres within the Mixed Martial Arts field.

A Mixed Martial Arts Instructor may show that he/she is an individual who possesses extraordinary ability in athletics by demonstrating things such as the following:

  1. Opening and sustaining an MMA school in your home country
  2. Black Belts in any of the sub-genres within MMA
  3. Previous fights and/or participations in competitions in international Mixed Martial Arts promotion companies such as: Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Elite Fighting Championship, Gracie Fighting Championships, International Vale Tudo Championships, King of the Cage, PRIDE Fighting Championships, Rumble on the Rock, Strikeforce, or any other international MMA promotion company
  4. International medals and awards from previous fights and/or competitions
  5. Teaching numerous MMA students
  6. Your students' medals and awards from student fights and/or competitions
  7. Letters of support from experts in the MMA field
  8. High salary paid to you by your international and US employers
  9. Appearances on television or radio as a commentator for MMA competitions, fights, or events
  10. Newspaper, magazine, and internet articles about your teaching and/or fighting skills

As with any other type of O-1 Visa application, the Mixed Martial Arts Instructor must have a job offer to teach a sub-genre of MMA within the United States. In addition, the Mixed Martial Arts Instructor must have an employer here in the United States who will serve as the Mixed Martial Arts Instructor's petitioner.

Felix we specialize in obtaining O Visas. We have previously obtained O-1 Visas for Mixed Martial Arts Instructors.
