She attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) for her undergraduate studies, obtaining a Bachelor’s degree with dual majors in Political Science and History in 2008. While at UCLA, Gerri enrolled in several History graduate seminars under Professor James Wilkie’s instruction. She was on the Dean’s Honor Roll for several quarters. Gerri was also a teacher’s aide to Professor Wilkie. Professor Wilkie also afforded Gerri the wonderful experience of being able to work as an instructor for UCLA’s summer high school program entitled “Migrant Scholars Leadership Institute” during the summer of 2007, where she provided English writing classes to migrant high school students’ living at UCLA. This teaching experience was very rewarding for Gerri and solidified her interest in immigration law.

In 2012, Gerri earned her Juris Doctorate degree from Southwestern Law School (Southwestern). While at Southwestern, Gerri volunteered for NALEO’s Citizenship Workshops and she clerked at Southwestern’s Immigration Law Clinic where she prepared U Visa Petitions and Special Immigrant Juveniles Status (SIJS) cases. Gerri was also an avid negotiator at Southwestern. She was the National Champion in the 2011 NBLSA International Negotiation Competition in Houston, Texas and was a finalist in the 2011 Southwestern Intramural Negotiation Competition. She also coached the winning 2012 NBLSA Negotiation team. During the summer of her second year at Southwestern, Gerri clerked at El Rescate Immigration Services where she prepared Asylum, Naturalization and Adjustment of Status (Legal Permanent Residency) applications. That same summer, Gerri also clerked at the Law Offices of Michael M. Felix, at the end of which she was made an offer to become an associate attorney by principal attorney Michael M. Felix.

Gerri is licensed in California and practices Immigration law with an emphasis in obtaining work visas and Legal Permanent Residency for various individuals in the entertainment industry (musicians, singers, music groups, models, producers, directors, writers, variety artists, and DJs), athletes and business executives from Mexico, Canada, Australia, England, Italy, Holland, Bangladesh, South Korea, and Central and South America.
